The problem
A paper cup is not really paper
Almost every disposable cup in Britain carries a film of polyethylene bonded to the inside wall, which is why a used one cannot go in with the paper recycling.
Ours are lined with a water based coating instead. Take the plastic out and the problem goes with it.
